Why were benches removed at the Wharf near Te Papa?

Those benches are not usually there. So nothing was actually removed. They are vertical now in front of the NZX building.
Yeah, I was reversely confused when a bunch of benches appeared there when the Van Gogh exhibit was on outside the NZX. I put two and two together and realised they were the sticky up poles.
To further alienate the homeless or to dig a hole.
I don't actually know but usually this sort of change is to stop people sleeping on them.
edit: or skateboarders
What benches have been removed? Walked past Te Papa 2 hours ago (around 3pm today) and all the benches are still there.
there were benches close to the water in line with the naked statue guy
They're not benches. They're the tall posts that are normally mounted in the area by the brewery and Odlins building.
When they take them down the usually store/put them along the water front.
This is what they look like when 'in place'.
I can’t remember benches there at all, not in line with the statue/along the water edge at all, there’s just the thick sleeper marking the edge. Can’t see benches in any of my photos of the area either. There was only benches along the bush area directly outside Te Papa, they’re still there right?

should’ve attached a photo! but i have photos where the benches were, they were literally behind the edge of the wharf :(
Yeah link us your photo! I’m intrigued now. [video from Jan 2019](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H_z0310yFTE&feature=youtu.be) I found with no benches, so must have been awhile ago! I bike along there daily and can’t remember them.
added! it's a screenshot from a vid i took in march this year!!
Homeless or skate boarders.
OMG a Mandela effect!! Nah, bad memory ;)
