Think I saw a falcon in Otari-Wilton bush??

There's one roosting in the war memorial carillon. Not many pigeons about there anymore.
Send the Pic to the NZ falcon group in New Plymouth. They log in sightings and help with identifying falcons. We had one visit on our roof and they told us heaps of information about him.
I saw one once when I was walking on the track behind my house! I saw it attempt to attack a sparrow too and the sparrow SCREAMED and flew off. It was hectic
During lockdown we went for a walk and came across one about 15 metres away that had managed to capture a sparrow, and was in the process of trying to dismember it. Reminded me that nature is certainly metal...
Neat! I’ve seen them in there in the past too :)
Congrats, definitely a falcon. Nice!
There’s a young one that hangs out near us on the Eastbourne beach, usually perched on a ‘no motorcycles’ sign. Crazy how close we were able to approach it before it flew off with my daughters head.
Flew off with your daughters head! You're very matter of fact about that!
I may be bending the truth just a degree…..
I was walking down the steps here a few years ago, and nearly walked into one sitting on the railing! It’s great to see them around
They're definitely in the area, I've seen one in Karori in the past and saw two along the Ohariu - Makara road last week.
There are definitely a few around Wellington City. I spotted one up Holloway Road a few times over the few years I lived up there, and I've spotted one in Frank Kitts park before.
Wouldn't be surprised if I've seen the same bird a few times. Unsure as to how territorial they are, but I presume they've fairly extensive ranges.
That's.... Falcon cool.
I'll get my coat
It's make sense, there are some living close by in Zealandia. The cool thing is they weren't raised there - they settled there themselves now that there's a native bird smorgusbord set up for them!
Somebody I know was attacked by a falcon in the area. Probably that one I’d say.
Probably had it coming...
I didn't know we had falcons in enzed.
Karearea, it's on the $20 note.
I obviously need to see more $20 notes!!
Are you kidding me?
I am sober and completely serious.
I saw the branch below it like a tail and thought a spider monkey escaped the zoo.
There are one or two in Tyers stream reserve in Khandallah. I once saw one having a mid-air scrap with a Kaka.
During lockdown last year apparently there was one in the central city.
